Meet Mrs. Canales

Hello! My name is Gloria Canales, and I am thrilled to be joining the St. Pius X

community as a 4th-grade teacher. I have a Bachelor's from Texas State University-San Marcos, and I am currently completing my Master's at Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi, with plans to graduate in Spring 2026. I love finding ways to make learning meaningful, creative, and fun.

My journey in Catholic education began just down the road at St. Patrick Elementary,

where I had the joy of teaching Kindergarten. It was there that I discovered a deep love

for teaching in a Christ-based setting. My teaching philosophy centers around fostering a classroom rooted in curiosity, community, and compassion. I strive to cultivate a learning environment where students feel confident to ask questions, take risks, and grow academically, socially, and spiritually. I believe every child is uniquely created with gifts and potential, and it is my calling as an educator to nurture those gifts in a safe, respectful, and faith-filled environment.

My husband and I were both born and raised here in Corpus Christi, and we’re now

raising our four children in the same vibrant community. We also share our home with

one sweet, adopted dog and two cats who kindly decided to adopt us. As a family, we

love spending time at the beach, attending community events, and theatre.

I’m incredibly excited to be a Blue Jay and look forward to all the joys and memories to

be made this school year!
