St. Pius X Catholic School's early childhood program encompasses children ages three, four and five. Our early childhood program is recognized for its developmentally appropriate, thematic approach to teaching and learning. The children are cared for in a loving, nurturing environment that prepares them for a rigorous academic experience while recognizing their developmental needs.
Classroom centers provide a variety of learning activities that help students learn social skills and develop gross and fine motor skills. Pre-reading and writing skills are introduced at each level so that by the end of kindergarten, most of the students are reading and writing. Computers are used to reinforce and teach math and phonics concepts. Students attend full day classes (K-3 class has a half-day option), with naps and/or rest times after lunch. They also have a morning snack and recess time. K-4 and K-5 have daily P. E. classes and attend Mass on Fridays. They wear the same uniforms that students in the upper grades wear.
