The curricular program at St. Pius X Catholic School is strong and well-rounded. We follow the Diocesan Curriculum Guides that are based on the TEKS (Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills). Grades 1-6 are traditional in nature, emphasizing strong reading, math, science and social studies programs. Classes in reading and math are small in size, due in part to our Enriched Reading and Math programs. There are two full-time teachers devoted to this program. The children are tested at the beginning of the school year, and those who meet the criteria are admitted to the program. The teacher-pupil ratio for reading and math is approximately 12 to 1 for both the enriched and regular math and reading classes.
St. Pius X School also offers the Accelerated Reading and Accelerated Math programs, library classes, computer classes, daily Physical Education classes, and weekly music, Spanish and art classes.
Our Early Childhood program consists of a classroom for each age group of 3, 4, and 5 year-olds. Each has a certified full-time teacher, and a full-time instructional aide. The children are taught in a language-rich environment that prepares them for the elementary program, while recognizing their developmental needs.
